SPEECH & DRAMA

FOR CHILDREN 5 TO 7 YEARS

As well as being great fun, speech and drama lessons are really important for your child. The average person communicates 80% of the time through speaking and listening, compared to around 20% through reading and writing. Building confidence in speech and drama will help your child acquire communication skills that will last a lifetime.

Speech and drama activities facilitate your child's learning process by motivating him or her to think, listen and speak clearly by participating in activities such as riddles, tongue twisters, role play, mime, games, voice projection, speech exercises, stories and script-writing.

Speech and drama lessons are designed to:

  • build confidence through practise of oral expressive skills and communicating freely in a social setting;

  • model conventional and grammatically correct speech patterns;

  • ensure clarity of articulation;

  • encourage use of language and bodily expressive techniques as tools for communication;

  • introduce students to script writing and performing their own work.

WRITE WELL

FOR CHILDREN 8 TO 12 YEARS

This is a programme your children will really enjoy, while addressing all the essential skills they need to write coherently and in grammatically acceptable ways for their school work and projects. Gaining the confidence to write well is a skill that will enhance your child's ability to communicate effectively on paper, transforming their thoughts and ideas into the written word, and will help them find joy in writing their own work.

I CAN READ PRELIMINARY

FOR CHILDREN 4 TO 5 YEARS

Ensure your child is fully prepared and ready to start kindergarten with confidence.

The I Can Read Preliminary Reading Programme is designed to develop both expressive and receptive vocabulary as well as essential pre-reading skills necessary to learn to read. This programme establishes the child’s phonological abilities, letter formation and the use of phonics in decoding.

It is important your child has the early communication skills needed when starting school, is able to communicate in full sentences and has some reading ability. It’s important because a child who is behind when starting school may find it difficult to catch up.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

FOR CHILDREN 8 TO 12 YEARS

Few of us in life are natural public speakers, but we believe it is a skill that can be learned. Once your children learn this skill, they will feel confident to speak well under any set of circumstances and with short notice because they will be able to apply the markers to suit each circumstance.

SHAKESPEARE

AS YOU LIKE IT”

FOR CHILDREN 8 TO 12 YEARS

This programme is designed to be quite interactive, using a combination of books and online tools, as well as media your children will be familiar with, such as YouTube. This basic introduction to the wonderful world of Shakespeare and his timeless plays will be both fun and interesting, and we hope will be the start of a lifelong love for the work of this iconic playwright.
