THE STEPS TO ENGLISH SUCCESS – LITTLE BEARS CLUB
The Little Bears Club (LBC) is an appropriate, interactive, specially created programme intended for beginning learners, usually from 3 years, designed to provide a platform for the acquisition of fluent English literacy. This programme forms the first step on the reading-literacy acquisition journey. For most students it is pre-phonics, because most children at this age are just beginning to develop an ability to associate the spoken language with its attendant sound structures.
PROGRAMME COMPONENTS
Every lesson will include Greetings, Story Time, Listening Comprehension, Students Re-tell Story, Picture Description, Vocabulary Building, Conversation and Oral Presentation Skills.
Additional activities include counting, fine and gross motor skills, singing (rhyming), poetry, sequencing, teamwork, social skills and dramatic play.
All activities are highly interactive with the teacher and are designed to achieve set language and pre-reading outcomes.
All participants must be able to confidently separate from their parent or care-giver.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
The Little Bears Club requires a minimum of attendance once a week where speaking, listening, vocabulary building and dramatic play activities will prepare the child to gain proficiency in English.
The programme is child-friendly and play-based. The more frequently students attend classes, the more quickly they will feel confident acquiring the prerequisite skills as a precursor to learning to read and write English.
Classes are taught by qualified teachers who have been trained in the Total Literacy unique methodology.
